You may be suitable for laser eye surgery

There is no upper age limit for laser eye surgery but there may be other vision correction options that you would like to consider.

Vision correction in people aged 50 and over

Your suitability for laser eye surgery depends on your refraction (the strength of your glasses or contact lenses), your eye surface health, the shape of your corneas, and the clarity of your natural lens inside the eye.

As we get older, the natural lens in the eye can become cloudy and loses clarity. This is a cataract. Patients over 50 are much more likely to develop a cataract and so your consultant may recommend a procedure called refractive lens exchange rather than laser eye surgery.
